Rush Hour Crush (original song) by Emily Lockett
Back Of The Church (original song) by Emily Lockett
Hi, thanks for looking at my press kit ....
I'm an independent British country pop/rock musician and singer/songwriter based in Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester. I've been described as a mix of Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne.
My original music has received praise from the likes of Maverick Music Magazine with 2 of my past EP's being awarded 5 stars (out of 5) and 8 out of 10. I was also a semi-finalist in the 2022 The Liverpool International Song Contest (a.k.a.The Road to Nashville) songwriting competition with my track “Do You Wanna Go Out?” making the top 50 out of 20,305 song submissions.
As regards live performances, I've opened for international and touring country/Americana and folk artists such as - The Hoosiers (UK), Robert Vincent (UK), Jessica Lynn (US), Emily Barker (Aus), Madison Violet (Can), The Sara Beth Trio/Royal South (US), The Devon Worley Band (US), Jess & The Bandits (US), Jade Helliwell (UK) and Morganway (UK).
I have performed at major festivals such as Latitude Festival, The Black Deer Festival, 110 Above Festival, The British Country Music Festival, Foodies Festival and Manchester International Festival.
Performance wise, my set is family friendly and I can draw on my original music (I do minimal covers) and offer performances of between of 30 mins up to 1.5 hours to suit most requirements.
Bookings are available for solo (acoustic) and full band performances (3 - 4 piece all female band) depending on your budget and booking notice.

PRESS AND TESTIMONIALS ABOUT MY MUSIC & PERFORMANCES
"a stunning modernist twist, Emily has allowed the genre to make a seismic shift in contemporary resonance ... it drips with commercial potential. I can’t help but feel excited about what’s to come from the trailblazingly distinctive artist. Get her on your radar." (about Front Porch) - Matt Spracklen / Country Hits Radio
"Think 1986, classic American soft rock guitars, Back to the Future, teenage hormones & huge choruses & drum beats. Let this song take you back or make you wish you had been there" (about Do You Wanna Go Out ?) and "delightful Taylor Swift ‘Speak Now’ era vibes. Strong melodies, strong harmonies make this a great listen. Sharp storytelling augmented by those SwiftVocals - well worth a listen." (about Front Porch) - Lyric Magazine
"Throw your preconceptions out of the window before you hit play on “Front Porch”. With a stunning modernist twist, Emily has allowed the genre to make a seismic shift in contemporary resonance. The electric guitars grace the soundscape with angularly absorbing licks to ensure that even though Front Porch is roots-deep in Old School Country Blues attitude, it drips with commercial potential." (about Front Porch) - Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory
“You were all fantastic. One of the festival highlights. Everyone was a bit rusty getting back in the saddle after such a long lay off, but you guys hit the ground running. True pros. Be proud of that set. No faint praise from me - as others will tell you. Well deserved. The crew thought so too." (about our first ever band performance) - Clive Leighton, Public-i Music / Curator and Stage Manager for Foodies Festivals
“... amazing performance" - Jeffrey Bruce, Stonehenge Solstice Festival
“her growth as a songwriter, musician and performer is clear – she’s only in her first year at university and has been playing live since her mid-teens. Her guitar playing is confident and expressive – lyrically she’s in the Maisie Peters/Taylor Swift camp of angsty relationship experiences’ but she’s growing into her own style and voice too, with songs like “Do You Wanna Go Out?” While her main target audience might eventually be a teenage crowd, tonight’s significantly older audience warmly received her self-effacing humour and strong performance. One to watch." - Nick Barber, Biddulph Up In Arms Review
"a truly special song for the singer/songwriter who has ingrained herself within the British country market and become one of the most loved voices thanks to her stellar tone, and standout songwriting talent." (about Do You Wanna Go Out ?) - musicandtournews.com
“With a look and sound of Taylor Swift, her chat between songs ... very confident ... the banter and the demeanour really belong to someone older. Listening to the tracks on her “My Imagination” EP you can definitely hear Emily’s influences. But this is no tribute album, this is a real body of work on which Emily plays most of the instruments as well as singing her self-penned songs. In all the tracks there is a maturity that took Taylor Swift more than one album to achieve. This album has certainly earned a place on my car stereo. I am excited for her future in music.” - Rik Holmes, Silverball Country February 24, 2019
“Emily has … a great stage presence, her ability to talk to an audience and interact is one of the best I’ve seen - as she demonstrated so well at the first British Country Music Festival in Blackpool playing not only one of the first sets of the weekend, but also the tricky outdoor stage. Emily’s style is reminiscent of Taylor Swift without being an attempt to copy, but while Taylor Swift writes a song about every single ex, Emily tends to write about the exes she has never actually had! Emily is as gifted at telling stories from stage between songs as she is at telling them in her songs. It would be hard to pick out favourites from the evening, but some stand out points need a mention - “Live to 100” from the Paint The Town Red EP is the soundtrack to a life, and if it isn’t used as a wedding first dance or for a wedding video then people are missing a trick. “If Only I” from the new What The Hell Have I Got Myself Into? EP was a revelation, and demonstrated her evolving confidence. The whole performance was polished and as fun to watch as it clearly was to perform …. all five on stage gave their all to create a performance worthy of any big stage – promoters should take note of this band! With a pop country/rock crossover vibe compared to Avril Lavigne and the Cranberries as well as Taylor Swift.” - Rik Holmes, Silverball Country July 24, 2022
